Things I'm in Love with right now...

Fall 09 Pics
I wanted to share a few things that I am diggin' lately...
the Clarisonic Plus is my new favorite skin care tool! This little tool is amazing and gets my face super clean! Think of it like an electric toothbrush for your face. My skin has never been softer, smoother, and even toned! I LOVE my clarisonic!

The Essie Fall Collection is super cute! The colors remind me of hunting, wool sweaters, and beanies. My favorite is the Angora Cardi. Such a fun color!

The Metric Fantasies album has been playing in my car stereo all month. I love Emily Haines voice and the chill indie feel that this band has.

My new Blowfish Shoobaloo Maryjane flats are sooooo cute and soooo comfy. You'll
spot me sporting them all season long! So cute for fall and great for running errands or wearing around the house. I think they're even cute enough to wear out to dinner :-)

Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin candle from Bath and Body Works is the perfect combination of fall scents. I've been burning this at my house ever since the Halloween decorations went up last week. Even though the weather is still warm here in Southern California, these fall scents remind me of the changing seasons.

I am loving my City Style Puff Sleeve Knit top from New York and Company. It is elegant, simple, and comfy! I love New York and Company for their polished styles and awesome coupons!

About a year ago I picked up a Green Room Eco binder from Target. I loved the fun modern print! This school year Green Room came out with some great new patterns, so I picked up a few more. I love using office supplies that have great style! Ha ha!

Have you tried the new Sharpie Retractable pen?! It is AWESOME! I always loved the Sharpie Pen...but sans cap makes it even better!

Recent Publication

I know, I know...I have bee the world's WORST blogger lately! I have been in a creative slump, and have felt uninspired. I don't know what it was...maybe the hot weather??? Anyway...I think I am coming out of it :-) I recently made some new digital card for my photo card blog. Check them out here. I have some new product that I can't wait to use and a card swap coming up next week, so I have some things that I will be sharing very soon. For today, I wanted to share my most recent publication in Cards Magazine. This sympathy card I made was featured in the September 2009 Issue. So fun to see your work in an idea book! I'll be back soon with some new projects!

Diaper Cake

So, this is my first attempt at making a diaper cake. I am bringing this as gift for a baby shower this evening. The process isn't hard, but it is kind of long.

You start by rolling up diapers and securing them with rubber bands. You then tie them around a bottle of lotion, or a baby bottle and build up. After you have completed the "cake" you can decorate with Ribbon, flowers, stuffed animals...or anything you want.

I think it turned out really cute!

Debbie's Crocheted Dish Scrubbies

This isn't a papercrafting project, but it is a super fun and functional crocheted project that my mom taught me.  I was able to persuade her to let me video the creation of one of these little dish scrubbies.  The video is below.

Basically you need about 11 yards of tule or netting.  Cut the fabric length wise in 3 to 4 inch sections.  Roll your sections into balls and you'll be ready to crochet!  My mom, Debbie, will explain more in the video.  Hope you like it!

A Little Update

Well, we are here is Long Beach, and we are almost done unpacking!  My big project tomorrow is to finish up my Craft Room!  Maybe once everything is out of boxes I'll be able to create a few things to share :-).  I have a ton of Thank You Cards to send out...so that will probably be my first papercrafting project.  I'll try to make a video or two towards the end of this week.

Our move went pretty smoothly...nothing broke and nothing lost...as far as I know.  Long Beach is very different from San Diego, but I know that over time it will become home.

I just wanted to give a little update and let you all know that I'll be back to blogging soon :-)

Cake and Candles

I wanted to share another birthday card that I made for all of my November Birthday friends and family this month.  Hope you like it!

This morning has been interesting.  I woke up feeling a bit under the weather...Jim had to go to an early meeting, so I made myself breakfast and tried to take it easy.  I occasionally get an Ocular Migraine, which is what I was experiencing this morning, as well as a sinus headache.  I went upstairs to take some medicine and get in the shower and nearly stepped on a Lizard in my bedroom!  Yes, a Lizard!  I screamed and jumped up on the bed.  Fortunately Jim got home only a few minutes later and was able to catch it and take it outside.  The thought of it roaming around the house gives me the chills!  I know they are harmless, but they are creepy!

Supplies: Bazzill - cardstock, scalloped edge; Melissa Frances - rubons, metal frame, glitter wings; Making Memories - buttons; America Crafts - ribbon; Anna Griffin - patterned paper.

I am also excited to let you know that Sherri and Ashley both gave me the Artey Pico award!  Thanks guys!

Windmills

We just got back from our Palm Spring mini vacation.  We had a great time relaxing by the pool and just having no plans.  The weather was scorching out there so it was a good thing that our resort had a pool and misters over the sitting areas.

On our way out to the desert we passed thousands of windmills!  I thought it was so interesting and unusual, but Jim thought they were no big deal.  Here is a quick visual of what they looked like.

San Diego Cooks

I am so excited to be a part of the new San Diego Cooks blog! It features tried and true, delicious recipes.

Who would have known that I would end up knowing a little bit about cooking! When I was growing up I resisted learning how to cook, I always had an excuse (and hoped that my husband would do the cooking someday). When I married Jim I started preparing meals from the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook and they actually turned out good! Since then I have tried many many recipes and techniques and I really do like to cook!

So, if you want to check out some of my recipes and some other recipes from a few other extremely talented chefs...visit http://www.sandiegocooks.blogspot.com/.
